Serpentine | Project One ICON premium bike paint scheme

Channeling the sly, meticulous, and dazzling traits of one of the world’s most captivating creatures, the Project One ICON Serpentine paint scheme is as enchanting as it is intimidating. Inspired by the mysterious reptile and its deep-seated roots within Chinese heritage, this colorway takes cues from nature and culture alike.. 

Serpentine was inspired by the Year of the Snake, with a moody red frame, hints of gold, and textured snake scales across the top tube. This tactile pattern adds movement and depth to the bike’s smooth, lustrous finish to create a paint scheme so realistic you might even worry about your frame shedding. The reptilian design is available exclusively on Madone Gen 8. road bike.

Craftsmanship, from fang to finish. 

With its glistening colorway and scaly design, the Serpentine paint scheme requires careful, detailed craftsmanship that can’t be automated. The red burnish used on each bike is applied by hand using a delicate, time-sensitive technique to give the frame its polished, glossy look. 

Another unique aspect of this paint scheme is the use of tactile decals to create the snakeskin pattern. These graphics aren’t new to the Project One shop, but until Serpentine, the team had never executed this technique on such a large scale. With the success of the design, it’s safe to say this tactic will be considered when crafting future Project One bikes.
